Review

We chose Van de Markt because it looked more creative and contemporary than most Amsterdam restaurants. But we found that the dishes were unimaginative and unbalanced, though generally well-executed. Wine list is quirky and very expensive. The service was shocking and the design is a real failure. Whoever chose early-nineties restaurant style hasn't spent enough time in the good examples learning how to save diners from feeling as though they're eating in a train station.
