Review 1 of 10 average rating 6 Name: Michael Rating: 2 Date: 31 Dec 2009 Review The Amstel has lost its charm. Once it was a must-see on the gay Amsterdam scene. It has been renovated and is now essentially a soul-less straight bar. On New Years Eve it was 50% straight women, and unfriendly staff. The authentic music is gone, and now it is a bar to avoid. Your time is better spent in the more traditional venues such as Montmarte and Rouge which are in the neighbourhood. It is such a shame that another gay venue has turned for the worse.  next
